After an upgrade to my blogging software, I changed a setting to hold new comments for moderation before they end up on the site (to combat spammy comments). However I neglected to check the box that would have let me know when there was a comment waiting for me to look at it. I’m sorry I held your comments in the cue for so dang long– it shouldn’t happen again.

And now back to our regularly intermittent posts…

This is an awesome little snip of custom settings for making Firefox load pages faster. It makes me happy.

UPDATE: Phew! That’s better. Let me know what you think. I’ll be futzing around for a bit yet, but tips and ideas are welcome. Things should be cleaner and simpler and hopefully more intuitive by the time I am done.

It’s amazing how the painting and drawing I’ve been doing is quickly translating into a new web site and a bunch of new website registrations and forum posts. I guess I really am a double-dork: art and interweb. But like I said above, you probably figured that out already.

So far I have collected examples of my work from the past four years or so. I haven’t scanned some of the quickie little comics that I like to do, but that’s only because I haven’t gotten to it yet. I’ll dig up some of my work from college work, too, and hopfully I can represent the massive amount of time I spent pulling prints off of limestone and zinc, and the time spent stitching books together. I also haven’t pulled together screenshots from the many and varied websites I’ve had a hand in building. That’s also forthcoming, but maybe on a longer timescale.

Now for some technical jargon: the site is xHTML/CSS layout with a PHP/MySQL backend. I’m still running WordPress for the weblog, and over time, I will work on making it more of a general-pupose CMS for the rest of the site. I am also taking advantage of the Apache mod_rewrite module to pretty-up the URLs for the site.

If you are still reading, thanks for coming by. I have been in a really productive spirit lately, so expect to see more work and more updates on the site in the near future, and come back often.

Oh, and some of the work here is avalable for purchase. I haven’t figured out how I want to handle that yet, but until the technology catches up, if you like something and want to buy it, make me an offer. I am also up for commissions, if the spirit moves you.

Oh, right: this design is in homage to the design of LoobyLu by Claire Robertson. Right now it REALLY looks like her site, but I will be swapping out some graphics and colors before long to make it a little more “my own.” In the meantime, I like it because it is compact while still having space for all the tids and bits.

UPDATE: Opera suddenly works now, since this post. I don’t get it, but I won’t complain (too much).

Today is the first time I have linked to this blog from anywhere. I am getting close to overhauling the site, so don’t get used to the layout here. I have a design I like, but I need to do more browser testing and image tweaking. Oh, and I need to write all the code for my new portfolio application (PHP, MySQL, and latest/greatest CSS and xHTML), so I can show you what I have been doing in my studio and in my sketchbook. That may take a while, but in the meantime, I have been trying to write more, so I figured I would make this blog public to keep myself in line.
