Go See Fahrenheight 9/11

Wednesday, June 16th, 2004

I’ve said this before, but I try not get too political here. This time, it just makes sense:

MoveOn.org is asking for everyone to pledge to go see Fahrenheight 9/11 next weekend when it opens. The idea is to show the theaters that there is a great demand for showing films like this, and that they will make money if they do so. It looks like it isn’t opening here in Madison right away, but I will be first in line when it does.

So take your blood pressure medication and go see it. And once you are good and angry, go do something about it.

Garfield, Oh How I Hate Thee

Tuesday, June 15th, 2004

So it turns out there is a perfectly valid reason that Jim Davis’s Garfield comic strip is so painfully terrible: he designed it that way. That’s right. He designed the strip as a basis for merchandising. And while I now understand, my hate grows. Only now I don’t hate Garfield because it sucks; I hate the man, and the cat, for conning everyone.

Phew! Now that the hate is out, and I fully understand its suckitude, I can happily omit Garfield from my radar. I actually feel better now.
